Book fair!
The Innocents depicts the story of identical twin sisters Iris and Dorothea Crosby. The twins are a part of upper class New York society at the beginning of the twentieth century. Their bond and general oddness keep them on its periphery leading them to pursue atypical interests for ladies of their class. Sensing the need to do more at the outbreak of WWI, the two sisters go to France as nurses. The horror and suffering they see ultimately lead to tragedy.
This book wasn't bad. It was more depressing than anything else. I wanted the sisters to break out into their own lives throughout this book and kept thinking "Do you own thing for once!!!" But, I think that was ultimately the point. If you are looking for a lighthearted cheery read, this is not it.
