This is the next book in the Pink Carnation series after The Secret History of the Pink Carnation and The Masque of the Black Tulip.
In 1803, the spies are still out there trying to keep France from invading England. Modern day Eloise is still on the trail trying to figure out who all these elusive characters are.
In this part of the story, the action moves to Ireland. The Pink Carnation and Geoffrey Pinchingdale-Snipe are there to stop the rebellion. There is only one problem though: Geoffrey's new bride Letty. Forced to marry Letty because of a compromising situation, Geoffrey decides to ditch her right after their wedding to go to Ireland. Letty, a bit drunk and her pride wounded, follows him there. Soon, Letty becomes part of the spy network with her new husband, who is starting to like the look of his new wife, and his spy friends.
I enjoyed this just like the other Pink Carnation books. It followed the same pattern of a love story and a spy story mixed as one with some humor to keep it all light. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
