2012 Book Challenge

In order to spice things up this year, I decided to create a book challenge. Matchmaker and Auntie Greeney are joining in. All are welcome. I am going to keep track of this on a new page on this blog. We’ll see how far we get.

The challenge is to find and read 20 books that have one of these characteristics.

1. In French or originally in French if you don’t speak it
2. You have been avoiding
3. Set in Africa
4. Spouse’s choice
5. Science fiction
6. Childhood favorite
7. Author with Z in their name
8. Animal in the title
9. Yellow cover
10. On this list -->  http://www.bbc.co.uk/arts/bigread/top100.shtml
11. Over 700 pages
12. Written in 1972
13. Has pictures in it (Children’s books don’t count. Think Slaughterhouse Five.)
14. Epistolary style
15. Author that only published one book
16. Derived from another book (like Wide Sargasso Sea -> Jane Eyre). Bonus if you read or have read the inspiration work.
17. Set over the 4th of July (at least a major event in the book if not the whole thing)
18. Mentioned in a movie (not based on but mentioned)
19. Two or more narrative modes (first person, second person, third person)
20. A weather event is central to the story

Rules:

One book can’t count for two things. So for instance if you read Dangerous Liasions for #1, it doesn’t count for #14.

Except for #6, they all have to be books you haven’t read.
